Dr. Arnhilda Badía, former Professor at Florida International University, has devoted her life to advocating for minority students by promoting educational equity. With over 35 years of experience in teacher education, Dr. Badía has expertise in a variety of specialties including language policy, linguistics, language acquisition, and curriculum development.
 

As President of Badía & Associates, Dr. Badía works with school districts as an educational consultant and external evaluator. She also designs and facilitates teacher-training workshops for ESOL teachers. Dr. Badía has managed community projects involving U.S. civics education and citizenship, and has conducted research in the areas of ESOL and Dual Language Education. She also served as Florida State Representative and was able to pass important legislation that had a great impact on the education of our English Language Learners (ELLs).
 

Dr. Badia obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Meredith College and received her Master’s Degree and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in Modern Languages and Linguistics. She completed a post-graduate degree at Harvard University in Educational Leadership. 

Dr. Badia is the author of several series of textbooks for children and adults. She is the President of the José Martí Foundation and belongs to several boards that focus on the importance of bilingual and multicultural education.
