The U.S. Civics & Citizenship Education is a standards-based program that uses a content-based approach to help students and adults acquire academic language skills through the study of civics education. The program covers the US Civics and English Language standards required for students at the Middle and High School levels.
The purpose of the program is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, values, and dispositions of active and informed citizens while they develop English language literacy skills. The program enhances students’ basic understanding of geography and U.S. history. Problem-solving activities and cooperative learning techniques are provided to help develop the participatory skills necessary for students to become active, responsible citizens. The program utilizes effective forms of learning, such as:
• Active learning: emphasizing learning by doing.
• Interactive learning: using discussion and debate.
• Relevant learning: focusing on real-life issues facing young people and society.

The Citizenship Game with Game Cards will challenge students to apply their new knowledge of US civics and citizenship in a fun and interactive way.
The game is available in English, Spanish, and Haitian-Creole.

A handbook developed for parents/guardians of English language learners (ELLs) that would like to learn about the U.S. educational system, school rules, regulations, procedures, and instructional practices.

The purpose of this Manual is to provide activities about Hispanic traditions that can be used throughout the academic year.
